Born in 1939 in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, photographer Shigeo Anzai has been taking photographs of the contemporary art scene since 1970, mainly in Tokyo. As well as being acclaimed as highly artistic portraits that deftly encapsulate the individuality of the artists, Anzai's photographs are known as art documents of significant historical value. This exhibition shows approximately 3,000 photographs of Japanese contemporary art that Anzai calls his "personal photo archives."
