School visits

The National Art Center, Tokyo provides art appreciation guidance for special exhibitions as well as facility guidance to groups visiting for educational purposes from elementary schools, junior high schools, special support schools, senior high schools, universities, graduate schools, and technical schools.

The NACT’s exhibition guidance (available only to schools and other academic institutions)

Prior to viewing a special exhibition, an approximately 15-minute long lecture is provided on exhibition highlights as well as the artists and works in a separate room. After the lecture, the visiting group may freely view the special exhibition. (in Japanese only)

The NACT’s Architecture guidance (available only to schools and other academic institutions)

An approximately 15-minute long lecture is provided on the features and functions of the National Art Center, Tokyo building. After the lecture, the visiting group may freely view the NACT. (in Japanese only)

Tuesday at the NACT

Since 2017, the National Art Center, Tokyo has held “Tuesday at the NACT,” an event in which area schools are invited to visit the museum on Tuesday, a day when it is normally closed. Free of charge, participating children are able to experience art works without concern for other visitors and share their impressions with each other.

Eligibility:

Elementary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools, special support schools, and international schools in Minato City and the area near the National Art Center, Tokyo.
