本作在年轻女性杂志《Serie Mystery》的增刊上连载。原著的《春香传》是一部18世纪初的恋爱小说，讲述了在李氏朝鲜时代，名为梦龙和春香的一对身份不同的男女之间的恋爱故事。然而，CLAMP版的《春香传》则讲述了秘术师之女春香与暗行御史梦龙一同旅行，像《水户黄门》一样劝善惩恶的故事。女主角春香也被描绘成勇猛果敢的少女，敢于挺身而出反抗压迫人民的贵族两班。1994年推出广播剧CD。
