카도카와서점 ‘월간 소년 에이스’ 1999–2001

첫 소년만화지 연재작품. 주인공 스즈하라 미사키가 <조종자>[데우스]로서 <천사>[엔젤]이라 불리는 작은 인형을 싸우게 하는 격투 게임 ‘ANGELIC LAYER’[엔젤릭 레이어]와 만나 이겨 나간다는 스토리이다. 솔직하고 힘찬 히로인상은 소녀만화지 ‘나카요시’에서 발표한 작품과도 일맥상통하지만, 미사키가 노력으로 컴플렉스를 극복하고 라이벌과의 대결을 거쳐 성장해 나간다는 승부 근성은 그야말로 소년만화의 왕도물다운 요소를 갖추고 있다. 그림체도 선이 굵고 적어졌으며, 매끄러운 인상이다. 세계관은 『쵸비츠』와 연결된다. 2001년에 TV 만화영화로 제작되었다.
