这两幅绘画作品原本构成了一件可携带的小型祭坛画。其结构为：以古代丰收女神刻瑞斯的雕像为主要题材的绘画作品起到覆盖作用，将其滑开后便会出现圣家族的绘画作品。据推测，此画应是由拉斐尔能力最为突出的弟子朱利奥・罗马诺，依据老师的构思绘制而成。订购人是拉斐尔的重要赞助人毕比埃纳红衣主教。目前可知，女神刻瑞斯的形象是以古代维纳斯雕像为蓝本绘制的。她怀中所抱的大型丰饶角，与毕比埃纳红衣主教纹章上装饰有丰饶角这一点存在关联。
