10 Medal: Louis XII (1462-1515) / Anne de Bretagne (1477-1514)
Profile portraits of King Louis XII of France and his second wife, Anne of Brittany, are engraved on either side of this medal. During the Renaissance, the “royal entry” was a grand ceremony held when monarchs entered a city, and medals were often produced to commemorate these events. This medal was made in anticipation of the King and Queen’s ceremonial entry into Lyon, a city in southeastern France.
