Kimihiro Watanuki is a high school student who can see spirits from the Hidden Realm. He stumbles upon a mysterious shop run by Yuko Ichihara, who has the power to grant wishes. The customers who come seeking Yuko's power and salvation pay a fair price in the form of a resolve or a part of their body. In exchange, they receive Yuko's advice or mysterious tools and leave the shop.

There are those who are saved by Yuko's powers and those who head towards destruction. By helping out at the shop, Watanuki learns that Yuko's power to assist per the laws of the world is not omnipotent and that a person's destiny and outcome depend on their own choices.

While sometimes perplexed by Yuko, who seems to see through destiny, Watanuki once again finds himself entangled in the enigmatic world revolving around people's wishes that are sometimes terrifying and sometimes heartwarming.
