Chobits

Serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine (2000–2002)

One day, while attending a preparatory school, Hideki Motosuwa finds a humanoid computer named Chi thrown away in the garbage. The trope of an unpopular young man suddenly having a beautiful girl arrive at his house is a classic one in young men's comics. While exploring classic romance comedy tropes aimed at male audiences, the skillful execution delves into the theme of whether love can exist between humans and machines with finesse. The use of ballpoint pen for the artwork further accentuates the thematic essence of this work in a simple yet effective manner. As CLAMP's first series in a magazine targeted at young men, it is easy to imagine that after the success of ANGELIC LAYER, this work would have further expanded their male fanbase.
