Legend of Chun Hyang

Serialized in Hakusensha's Serie Mystery Special (1992–1994)

This was serialized in special issues of the young women's magazine Serie Mystery. The original work, Legend of Chun Hyang, is an 18th-century romantic novel set during the Joseon Dynasty, which depicts the love between Mong Ryong and Chun Hyang, a couple from different social classes. However, CLAMP's version of the Legend of Chun Hyang is a story of moral justice. In this adaptation, Chun Hyang, the daughter of a sorceress, travels with Mong Ryong, an amhaeng'eosa (a secret royal inspector), uncovering and fighting evil. The brave and daring girl, Chun Hyang, stands up against the oppressive nobility, Ryanban, which tyrannizes the people. A CD drama adaptation was released in 1994.
