TOKYO BABYLON

Serialized in Shinshokan's Sausu and Monthly Wings (1990–1993)

This is one of CLAMP's prominent early works that began serialization the year after CLAMP's commercial debut. Surprisingly, it ran during the same period as RG VEDA, despite having a completely different setting and visual concept. Set in the demon city of Tokyo, where prosperity and decadence are two sides of the same coin, this story of suspense flavored with the occult features the secret activities of a modern-day onmyoji, Subaru Sumeragi. Several elements give it the sense of the era, such as the 80s fashion and current events. However, the underlying "philosophy" of CLAMP conveys timeless messages. There are various adaptations of this work, including an OVA and a live-action film.
